Summer and winter is a weave structure that gives a patterned cloth, but it has no long floats. In this class we will explore S&W, and look at the ways that we can change it to make the fabrics that we want. As in all of Deanna's core classes, we will also cover additional basic information that weavers need to know. This will include sectional warping of the loom, weaving and using wool fiber, reading and designing with block weave drafts, and how to use block weave designs for additional weave structures, specifically Bronson Lace. This class is set up to have the student weave at home on their own loom (if you do not have a loom, you may rent a Pioneer Craft House loom) and they will bring the samples of their weaving back to class each week for discussion. We will also be working on Pioneer Craft House looms in class for the lace weave and warping instruction.
