Swedish Lace Scarf
These elegant and timeless lace scarfs are fun to make and go with just about anything! In this class, students will weave two beautiful light summer scarves with the classic Swedish Lace weave structure. This structure is ancient, dating back to the time of Vikings. It's one of the easiest lace weaves, based on plain weaves, with a background and areas of floats that have little blocks of design in them.
These light cotton scarves will quickly become a favorite. Students will receive a premeasured cotton warp and instruction will be given for the different types of weft that can be used. With one threading on the loom, you will be able to design your own scarves by varying the treadling and the weft, as well as the weft color. This simple structure will also help students learn how to perfect selvages (the edge of the fabric where the weft goes around). Come create something timeless and make your own beautiful Swedish Lace scarf.
