OUR GREAT ART ROOM

Yes, we've had to drastically downsize, but the surprise benefit was a beautiful all-purpose classroom that is warm and inviting thanks largely to The Gradening Coach Kathlyn Collins and artist Dializ Homer. The space is arranged to accommodate more than one small group at a time (bobbin lacers and glass artists meet on Wednesdays, for instance), and also has an inviting office, library, workspace, and break roo. Kathlyn and Dializ painted walls, hung doors, bulletin boards, and shelves, painted our old graffitied tables, closed up the puppet theater for sound-proofing, made curtains, hamered, nailed, and drilled.
The library is excellent -- vntage manuals, fine illustrations, and art history from Giotto to Picasso, from Belgium to Japan, were culled from hundreds of old books in the Board room.
Two display cases show off work by PCH instructors, potter Mark bennion and weaver Deanna Baugh, as well as pieces by former teachers Lark Lucas and kevin frazier.
Board member Nancy Starks fixed a 100+-year-old quilt, unearthed in last summer's attic sale, to hang on the wall alongside masterpieces by PCH students and teachers.
