Beading Basics
Come check out our new Beading Basics class! This craft has been around for what some say more than more than 70,000 years, and has played an essential role in jewelry making. Bring some of history to life and learn the basics of string beading and jewelry design.
During this 3-hour class students will learn:
Students are invited to bring favorite beads of their own to use in the creation of a necklace, pair of earrings, and a bracelet. If you do not have your own beads, there will be some available for purchase during class. This course is perfect for beginners to intermediate level who want to learn or improve their skills in beading. |

Time: 6 pm - 9 pm
Ages: 14+
Tuition: $30.00
Instructor: Melinda Greenwood
Campus location: Cottage
Student limit: 8 people
Materials: $12 materials fee due the first day of class to the instructor covers findings (crimp beads, lobster claw and toggle clasps, head pins, string wire, earring hooks, stringing materials, etc.), bead mats, string clamps, pliers, etc. In addition students are invited to bring a small assortment of beads, pendants, etc. they would like to utilize for their necklace, earrings and bracelet project. Some limited beads and pendants will be available for purchase during class for an extra cost. Please let the instructor know of a preferred color scheme prior to the class beginning.
Beads can be purchased at any craft store like Micheals, JoAnn, or Hobby Lobby.

Melinda Greenwood
Melinda took a jewelry making class her senior year in high school, and has since been drawn towards jewelry and beads to channel her creativity for over twenty years. She enjoys working with glass, metal, pearls, semi-precious stones and beads in all shapes and forms. Melinda is deeply passionate about jewelry, easily makes friends and believes teaching is as much about learning as it is about sharing knowledge.
Melinda has a Master of Public Administration and has worked most of her career in state, county, and local government. Melinda and her husband Eric, live in Harrisville, have two Wheaten Terriers, and enjoy spending time in the outdoors.
